Modern Samurai Project: RDS Pistol
Day 1
In our RDS Fundamentals and Performance Course, we delve into the nuanced art of mastering red dot sight (RDS) technology to enhance firearm proficiency. Day 1 initiates with an introduction, followed by a safety briefing. Students are then guided through the process of zeroing their red dots, crucial for precise aiming. We explore the intricate mechanics of body posture and recoil management, emphasizing dot tracking techniques to predict and control movement. Diverse styles of draws, including the innovative "Wave" Grip, are scrutinized, alongside an in-depth analysis of Fitts Law principles, optimizing target acquisition. Day 1 culminates with practical drills like the 3 & 2 Drill, reinforcing red dot performance in close-quarter distances.
Day 2
Building upon foundational skills, Day 2 of our RDS Pistol class delves deeper into refining marksmanship proficiency. A specialized focus on trigger control unlocks precision, dissecting the nuanced "walls" of trigger manipulation. We introduce three distinct modes of practice—Accuracy, Speed, and Real—to fine-tune shooting prowess across varying scenarios. Emphasis shifts towards distance shooting and seamless transitions between targets, utilizing shape-based drills. The culmination of the class features the rigorous Black Belt Standards assessment, challenging students to showcase their newfound skills under pressure. A comprehensive debrief concludes the course, providing invaluable insights and personalized feedback for continued growth. A certificate and token of appreciation is then given to each student.
To fully participate in this course and unlock your potential, please ensure you are familiar with shooting a pistol AND the safety requirements. Bring the following equipment:- A reliable (excludes SigP320) modern pistol, preferably equipped with a red dot sight - Kydex holster with an appropriate ride height for easy and secure access-IWB, OWB, or duty holster- A substantial supply of 700 rounds of reliable ammunition- Five magazines- An open mind and a sincere willingness to learn, adapt, and improve.
$40/day range fee will be paid by the student
Empirical Concepts: Competitive Concepts
Competitive Concepts is built for shooters who want to elevate their match performance by developing a deeper, more deliberate understanding of how and why top-level stage plans work. The course focuses on high-impact skills: movement efficiency, throttle control, aggression application, and the ability to dissect a stage with purpose. Students learn not just what a plan should look like, but the reasoning behind every choice — footwork, entry and exit timing, position selection, target priority, risk management, and how to balance speed with control.
Instruction is led by Grandmaster Ryan Lee and Master Class shooter Daniel McAlister, bringing two different perspectives that complement each other on stage planning, execution, and competitive mindset.
Training begins on Day 1 of class. The day is built around running and dissecting multiple practice stages. Students are shown a structured, repeatable method for reading a stage, identifying challenges, determining where to attack and where to stay disciplined, and building a plan that fits their personal shooting style. Ryan and Daniel work with each student rep by rep, refining movement patterns, decision-making, and the underlying logic behind an efficient plan. Every drill connects directly to match performance.
On Day 2, students take everything they’ve learned into a live USPSA match at Palmetto Gun Club in Ridgeville, SC. Each shooter squads with their instructors and receives ongoing coaching throughout the match. The emphasis is on applying their planning process under real pressure — testing plans, adjusting when needed, and walking away with a clearer, more confident framework for future matches. Tuition includes all range fees, training, and match entry.
Class begins at 9:00 a.m. and ends at 5:00 p.m.
Match participation on the following day will follow the squad assignments provided by the host club.
Intro to RDS Handgun
Intro to Red Dot Sight(RDS) Handgun is for the student that is new to using a RDS on their handgun. This 8-hour class will allow for a more detailed experience in using the RDS equipped handgun and refine skills needed to be as effective as possible.
This is NOT a basic class. Students should be able to draw and holster safely and hit an A-Zone at 10yds with no time limit.
Empirical Concepts: Advance Concepts
Advanced Concepts is built for shooters who already have a foundation in competitive shooting and are ready to train like future Grandmasters. This course is designed for anyone from solid C-Class shooters up through Master-Class athletes who want to understand the deeper science behind performance and learn how to build a long-term training plan that actually produces results.
Instruction is led by Grandmaster Ryan Lee and one of his credentialed Master Class instructors, bringing students the distilled knowledge, systems, and training methods used by world champion shooters and the top instructors in the sport. The goal is to give each student the inside track: how to identify weaknesses, how to train to them, how to structure skill development, and how to accelerate the climb toward elite performance.
The weekend kicks off with a match at a local USPSA club where the student will squad with instructors who will advise, evaluate, and break down performance throughout the entire match. This gives each shooter a real-time diagnostic of their stage planning, decision-making, pacing, accuracy standards, and movement efficiency.
On Day 2 training continues where the full day is spent dissecting every major component of high-level competitive shooting. Students learn how to evaluate their own performance, how to spot inefficiencies, and how to build a training system tailored to their goals. We cover movement mechanics, accuracy at speed, throttle control, match strategy, mental processes, and the habits required to continue evolving long after the course is over.
By the end of the weekend, shooters will walk away with a sharper understanding of their strengths and weaknesses, a personalized roadmap for improvement, and the tools to begin training their way toward Master and Grandmaster performance.

Griffith Shooting Solutions Performance Pistol
Our Performance Pistol Class is designed with the shooter that has an understanding of weapon safety and fundamentals in mind but wants to learn how to run the handgun at their maximum ability. During this class, we will discuss, demonstrate and drill the most efficient practices for every facet of shooting a handgun with a high demand on speed and accuracy. We will push even the most seasoned shooters past their limits with regards to speed and accuracy, dissect individual skills in order to find inefficiencies, and apply corrections so we can collectively redefine what fast and accurate really is.
Day 1 will focus on static shooting with a high demand on accuracy AT relevant speed and the skills necessary to accomplish this. By the end of day 1, students will be able to apply these concepts in order to be aggressively accurate through varying target presentations and target arrays.
On day 2 the class will apply this level of shooting, continuing with a high demand of aggressive accuracy as we learn to move around effectively. We will explore how to exit and enter shooting positions, move comfortably and safely with the gun and merge or blend shooting positions together. We'll also learn to shoot while moving and discuss when and where shooting on the move makes sense given the scenario.
During this class we will also discuss training methodologies in order to give students a better understanding of what their own firearms training should look like. This includes how to isolate skills, how to use training metrics to guide training and goals, and how to effectively use both dry and live fire to hone skills.
